Chris Isaaks new album Beyond The Sun has debuted at #6, making it the highest new entry of the week on the album chart. Released on Rhino, its success represents a renaissance for Chris Isaak in the UK as it is his highest charting album since his 1991 breakthrough collection Wicked Game.

The success of Beyond The Sun has been buoyed by positive press coverage that has included a feature in The Telegraph as well as a variety of high profile television performances and/or interviews on shows such as BBC Breakfast, This Morning, Something For The Weekend and The Alan Titchmarsh Show.

Isaak will follow the albums release with select North American tour dates in March.

On Beyond The Sun, Chris Isaak pays tribute to the glory days of Memphis Sun Studio and the visionary artists who started out there under the guidance of Sam Phillips.

The self-produced album was recorded mostly at the historic Sun Studio with his long-term band; Rowland Salley (bass), Kenney Dale Johnson (drums), Hershel Yatovitz (guitar), Scott Plunkett (piano) and Rafael Padilla (percussion). The album also features a guest performance by the Memphis legend Jack Clement, a songwriter, musician and producer who worked with the majority of the Studios biggest names. Isaak magically recaptures the transformative brilliance of the classic sides cut by greats such as Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, Carl Perkins and Jerry Lee Lewis at Sun with Phillips, while also getting down to his own deeply rooted musical identity.

When I started making music, I thought that if I do those songs, where do I go from there? says Isaak. I wanted to make sure I found my own sound and established who I was. But I always loved that music and I wrote songs in that spirit. You can go through all my songs and you wont find one reference to goin to the bop. Theyre about my life, not about nostalgia for the 50s. I came to a point where I felt like the time was right to do this record. Id met all my heroes and worked with most of them, and I didnt hear anybody else doing it the way I wanted to do it.

JetBlue Hosts Free Chris Isaak Concert at JFK Airport on December 15!

JetBlue Airways will host a free concert by singing star Chris Isaak on Dec. 15 at 12:30 p.m. ET at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York.

The performance is the latest Live from T5 installment. The post-security concert will be held at Terminal 5 (T5) and will be available to ticketed customers.

The airline is also running a local contest for 20 people and a guest to enjoy the intimate performance as well as a chance to meet Isaak.

On Friday October 7th, Sydney fans will have an opportunity to attend a live and intimate performance by Chris Isaak as part of the iTunes Live from Sydney series.

Fans are advised to head to www.getmusic.com.au/chrisisaak/competitions for further information on how to attain tickets to this exclusive event. Limited tickets will also be available at the door on the night a first come first served basis. Doors open at 8.30pm.

The performance will commence at 9.00pm and a recording of the performance will be made available exclusively on iTunes later this year. The session will include songs from Beyond The Sun, including Great Balls of Fire, Cant Help Falling In Love, I Walk The Line, Ring of Fire and Pretty Woman, along with many songs that have that equally familiar feel but are perhaps less well-known like Miss Pearl, I Forgot To Remember To Forget and Dixie Fried.

The accurately titled Beyond the Sun is a self-described labour of love. Since Chris fell in love with his parents 45s as a child in Stockton, California, this passionate writer/artist has been obsessed with the glory days of Memphis Sun Studio and the visionary artists who got their starts there - including Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, Carl Perkins and Jerry Lee Lewis - all of them discovered and nurtured by Sam Phillips.

Isaaks longstanding desire to musically salute his inspirations was fast-tracked when he read a 2000 interview with the great Sun Records producer Sam Phillips that appeared in the Oxford American. Near the end of the Q&A, Phillips was asked if any contemporary recording artists grabbed his attention. His response blew Chris away. I don't keep up with the business like I used to, said Phillips, but I love to listen to Chris Isaak. Hes very talented, and his music is so damned honest. Its incredible. That pretty much sealed the deal for this Sun worshiper.

Now, at long last, Isaak magically recaptures the transformative brilliance of the classic sides cut by these greats at Sun with Phillips during the mid-50s, while also getting down to the nitty-gritty of his own deeply rooted musical identity.
