Quadrophenia had such an impact when it first came out - I still remember the hoo haa over it - but wasn't allowed to watch it (too young). That mods vs rockers subculture era would have been 'interesting' - certainly very interesting years later - how the media sensationalized it and how they were targeted because they were different. Must check the film out one day! Sting had a bit part in it from memory? and David Bowie? The Jam? - I think I was interested in it because the Jam was on the soundtrack? From memory there was another 'more authentic' film out at the same time which had the Specials on the soundtrack? And Quadrophenia was the glossy version.

aah I'm a dunce slowly starting to remember - Quadrophenia WAS the GREAT film, and then Absolute Beginners followed it (that was the glossy expensive film that was, I think, canned and had Bowie in it and lots of posing). Quadrophenia had Sting in it and the soundtrack had the Who, and some 60s US Spectoresque songs (?). And the Jam did a song called 'Absolute Beginners' but it has Absolutely Nothing to do with it! oh and i've watched neither film, but know the songs.

Aaah my memory needs a defrag and reboot..... so ummmm what did you think of Quadrophenia?
